Participation Associate (Maternity Cover)

About you

Are you approachable, courageous, optimistic, compassionate, innovative and determined? We are looking for someone who is highly skilled at developing relationships and have a strong track record in stakeholder management. Recent experience of leading participation activity that placed the voice of people with lived experience at the heart of practice and policy development, is also critical for this role. You will have proven ability in building effective working relationships at all levels and a demonstrated ability to develop and to lead new and innovative work, as you will be supporting the delivery of an ambitious participation and engagement strategy for CELCIS.

About the role

The postholder will co-ordinate and deliver high-quality, impactful, and safe participation activity within CELCIS, to embed participation further and meaningfully across the design, delivery, and evaluation of our work and also lead CELCIS’ Participation Consultants Group, which will include identifying relevant engagement opportunities within the organisation, supporting the development of the group and the consultants’ wellbeing. Our Participation Associate will participate in policy development and implementation discussions in relation to participation with key strategic and operational partners within CELCIS’s support, care, and protection work, including local authorities, NHS Health Boards, education, the legal profession, the third sector and Scottish Government.

We do this by supporting people and organisations responsible for their care to make changes in services and in the practices and skills they use, all based on the needs, experiences and rights of children and young people.

Qualifications and experience

You will have a degree or relevant professional experience, with a demonstrable track record of developing and co-ordinating high-quality and impactful participation and engagement activities, including those which have been co-produced with people with lived experience of care. You will also have experience of community-led programmes and projects, ensuring that these are collaborative, people-oriented and support the inclusion and involvement of people with lived experience and be able to analyse complex data and information to produce briefings and reports which will inform developments, policy, and implementation of practice around participation, for both internal and external audiences.

This position is to provide maternity cover for a fixed term 12 month period.
