The CELCIS annual Gathering PACE (Permanence and Care Excellence) event took place at the Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 7 November, where we welcomed 96 delegates to the event from across Scotland.
Our keynote speaker was Dr Helen Whincup, Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Stirling, who provided an update on the ‘Permanently Progressing? Building secure futures for children in Scotland’ research.
Our conference chair was Neil Hunter, Principal Reporter at the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA).
We were also joined by Gary Brown, Corporate Parenting Youth Worker at Perth and Kinross Council, who introduced the screening of ‘Milestones’ which is a short compelling film made by and about young people with care experience. The film is the result of a creative project by Fun Young Individuals, a collective of young people with care experience from the area.
The morning also consisted of a poster sessions, where local PACE sites were able to network with each other to learn what has been working within the PACE programme.
The afternoon involved workshops on topics including: delivering services to care for children in rural communities, legal advice in permanence planning, and health and looked after children.
