The Equality Act 2010 protects people against discrimination due to certain protected characteristics such as age, disability, gender or race. Who Cares? Scotland has published a report explaining why they believe that care experience should also be a protected characteristic for life. This report focuses on the steps corporate parents can take without changes to law.

This report, by WC?S and the Equality and Human Rights Commission supports two of the guiding principles from the Covenant - assumption of entitlement and care proofing of policy.
