In March 2021 CELCIS and SOS Children's Villages held a webinar to launch a Rapid Evidence Review of research on residential care and a discussion on enhancing policy and practice.

In order to contribute to current international debate around residential care, the webinar offered a review of current scientific evidence on residential care as one of a range of alternative care options, and discussed what researchers have identified in terms of specific challenges and opportunities of its usage, aspects that constitute quality, and outcomes for children.

We welcomed a variety of speakers from around the world:

  • Valerie Jans (moderator)
  • Manuela García-Quiroga, Psychologist, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Valparaíso
  • Robert Porter, CELCIS
  • Miriana Giraldi, CELCIS
  • Duc, Care experienced young person, Viet Nam
  • Chandrika Khatiwada, Director of the Institute for Legal Research and Consultancy, Nepal
