Young people get the opportunity to prepare for a Children's Hearing before they attend

Children and young people who are scheduled to go to a Children's Hearing can now benefit from a visit to a Children's Hearing Centre to help them prepare. SCRA now has a pre-Hearing Champion in all their offices who can show children and young people around the Hearing Centre, answer any questions, and provide an information pack for them to take away with them.

During the visit, young people will be shown around the waiting rooms and Hearing rooms, find out about seating arrangements and who will be at the Hearing. The information pack is stuffed full of information to help the young people prepare for the meeting and find out about their rights. Parents and carers are welcome to come along on the visit too.

The visits are being launched following consultation with children and young people who have Hearings experience.

The SCRA website also has a short video aimed at children and young people to explain more.
