The Mockingbird model: could this style of foster care be successful in the UK?
Originally developed by the Mockingbird Society in Seattle, this care model has been hailed as a success across the USA. It uses the idea of a dedicated 'hub home' of specially recruited and trained carers offering respite care and peer support to a group of foster families and kinship carers, who live nearby.
Mockingbird has been described as 'intuitive' and 'cost effective for local authorities' It also challenges traditional care methods. Find out more
