New study looks at the role of foster carers

Foster carers in Scotland are being asked to take part in a new study. The study aims to explore the unique circumstances and challenges that come with caring for children and young people at a time when they may be vulnerable.

Researchers from CELCIS, in collaboration with Lucia Hargašová, a visiting researcher from the Slovak Academy of Sciences, will be conducting the qualitative study: Relationships in Foster Care Professional Role. The study aims to understand the complexity of foster care, how foster carers feel about their role, and what a good relationship between a child and a foster carer looks like.

Foster carers are being asked to complete a short questionnaire online.

As well as an online questionnaire, foster carers will also have the opportunity to discuss their role in an in-depth interview at a later stage.

If you want to know more about the study and how we will handle participant information, you can download the Participant Information Sheet and Data Privacy and Protection Notice here.

Please note: The survey is open until 15 July
