Rejoice in residential child care! For you, festival season starts early this summer!
The first ever Festival of Residential Child Care rolls into Scotland this June, with a week-long programme of events celebrating and supporting the wonderful work or residential child care workers across the country, and the voices of the children and young people they work for.
First up, it's our 'Express yourself' event...
Powering up with a platform for practitioners to vent, rant, cajole and champion what matters most. This event takes to the stage with a couple of practitioner presentations to set the agenda, and then folks, the floor is all yours!
Chaired by Carole Dearie, Depute Head of Service of the Good Shepherd Centre, our programme will kick off with a presentation from Kate Skinner, sector-renowned independent consultant, on how we can support ourselves and each other in the day-to-day workings of residential child care. We'll also hear from Andy Thorpe, Lothian Villa legend and residential manager, on the importance of continuing relationships with young people through and after care - for both young people and staff.
Finally, we're delighted to be joined by Fiona Duncan, Chair of the Independent Care Review for Scotland, for an open and interactive Q and A session.
The event is free and is a really exciting opportunity to come together with like-minded folks to share successes, challenges and changes. So get booking!
