What does ‘When I grow up’ mean to you?

We're looking for writing and artwork from care-experienced young people to display in our Creative Gallery.

It’s an opportunity for children and young people with experience of being looked after, either away from or at home, to express themselves in imaginative ways and see their work in a gallery setting.

We will display the pieces at CELCIS 2015: Travelling together conference in Glasgow on Wednesday 7 October.

The Creative Gallery will help delegates to keep children’s hopes and dreams at the forefront of their minds throughout the event.

We are also going to display the Creative Gallery in an art gallery in late October or early November and artists, writers and their carers will be invited to attend a Gallery open evening.

How to take part

Step 1: Children and young people create a piece which shows what the phrase ‘When I Grow Up’ means to them.
Step 2:  Write the following information on the back of each piece:

  • Title of piece (if applicable)
  • Full name and age of creator- we will only share the title and first name, age and organisation and are happy to omit these details if preferred.
  • Organisation name, email address and postal address - all artworks will be returned.

Step 3: Send to the CELCIS office by Friday 25 September:

Email: celcis.learning@strath.ac.uk
