Please note that this event has been postponed until further notice.
Join us for a bit of a twist on our Inspiring Children's Futures annual lecture, developed and inspired by young people. The evening consists of a lecture, food, mingling and a big interactive discussion.
We are delighted that Professor Robbie Gilligan, from Trinity College Dublin, will join us to talk through the theme of informal learning 'outside the box'. Professor Gilligan has a global reputation as a social work academic and researcher of the lives of children in adversity. He is also a member of the International Advisory Board of Inspiring Children's Futures.
Presentation title: Outside the box: Re-imagining the potential of work and education in promoting the social inclusion of young people.
Professor Gilligan will present his research on "reimagining work and education", challenging us to think imaginatively and creatively on how we understand and sequence 'education' and 'work' opportunities for young people on the margins.
His talk will be followed by a chance to mingle and share reflections with other delegates, as well as an interactive panel discussion and Q&A, bringing together a range of experiences and insights to encourage delegates to think 'outside the box'.
Anyone with an interest in the life chances of young people are encouraged to attend, including for example, policy makers, funders, students, academics, social workers, teachers, other practitioners, and, of course, young people themselves.
We look forward to welcoming you at what promises to be a thought-provoking and inspiring evening event.
The event is free and refreshments will be provided.
Some travel costs for young people can be reimbursed – please contact us directly to ask about this.
