Scoping Project on Children in Care in Scotland, 1930 - 2005

The purpose of the study was to collect information on the number of children and young people who had been in various forms of care in Scotland between 1930 and 2005.

It was envisaged the findings of this study could then be used to estimate the numbers who might come forward to the National Confidential Forum, or at least to estimate the numbers who would be eligible to do so. It was anticipated that estimates would be obtained for the numbers of children who had been in residential care, foster care and other forms of care respectively.

Commissioned in June 2011 by the Scottish Government.
