'...we need a new worldview to navigate this chaotic time. We cannot hope to make sense using our old maps. It won't help to dust them off or reprint them in bold colours. The more we rely on them, the more disoriented we become' — Margaret Wheatley

CELCIS has been working over the last decade to support local areas across Scotland in implementing change for children, young people, and families. From that work we've developed the CELCIS Approach to Place-Based Complex Change, and are looking for people involved in change in Scotland to explore this approach and help us understand how best this can be applied. If you are an improver, service designer, or involved in complex change work, we'd love for you to join us. This session will share CELCIS's approach and some associated tools, allowing you to connect with peers, share your expertise, and help us find paths forward together.

Our aims for the workshops are to:

  • Share the CELCIS approach with people actively involved in change work across Scotland
  • Test the approach's relevance and gather feedback from practitioners on the ground
  • Facilitate networking and peer connection among those working in complex change
  • Gather stakeholder views on how the approach can be applied in practice
  • Generate curiosity and appetite for a new way of working with local areas
  • Understand how change is currently being approached and delivered locally, to help us work effectively with local areas

Workshop delivery
This will be a highly participative session! Expect plenty of conversation and hands-on discussion, following some direct input from CELCIS on the approach itself. Come prepared to share your own examples and ways of working - we'll be using these together to think through how the approach could apply in practice.

The workshops will be facilitated by:

  • Lorraine Sillars, Whole Family Wellbeing Lead, CELCIS
  • Dr Lili Clark, Complex Change Research Fellow, CELCIS

The session will run twice, on Thursday 5th November and Wednesday 11th November and places are limited. Please register for your preferred date by Tuesday 27 October and we'll be in touch to confirm if we're able to offer you a place.

Who are the workshops for?
These workshops are for those involved in place-based change work. You might be an improver, service designer or in another type of change role across local authorities, health boards, the third sector and national bodies.
